ManMade Video How-To: Mount Your Laptop to your Exercise Equipment.

created at: 2010/02/07

In the last decade, many folks have stopped subscribing to cable television, magazines, and the newspaper. We've quit writing down recipes on index cards, sending most letters, using the telephone, and going to the local video store. Many no longer work in a traditional office, as they can do everything they need from home. Because now, you can simply send and recieve all of that information on your computer.

Which means, we spend ALOT of time in front of a computer. And that doesn't make us lazy, necessarily. In fact, it actually means we can be more productive - in concentrating our work and communication into a laptop, we can keep ourselves moving while we get our work done simply by connecting our computers to the average home exercise machine.   With the right easy-to-find tools and materials, you can custom make one of these units to fit your laptop and exercise equipment in an afternoon, for around $20.00 USD.

Check out the video to see the process.

As a desk jockey for 10-12 hrs a day, I can honestly say that when I get home and only have time to eat and work for a few hours before bed, this would greatly benefit me rather than taking time away from my home office to do some cardio work that leaves me thinking of how much I could have accomplished instead of exercising.

Impressive and inspirational.  Thanks!

@ Andrew - For me, it's more about moving while I work, not working while I exercise. Most of ManMade was built and written on it.

@ Bachmann - Great idea! Can we see some pics of your setup?

@Cool idea - All the parts, dimensions are in the video. Just press play.

Love it. How about a parts list?

Heh, I went about it a different way. Instead of mounting the machine to the bike I have the screen slightly to the right and an external mouse/keyboard at my sides!

So, instead of mounting the computer to the bike I had the computer setup surround the bike

Clever, but it misses the more important point that if you're using a laptop while exercising, you should find somewhere to sit down, because you're not exercising.

this is great!
