Fun Fact of the Day: The Janka Hardness Scale for Wood

The Janka hardness scale indicates the relative hardness of a given species of wood. It ranges from 22 pounds-force to over 5000 lbf, determined by measuring the force required to embed an 11.28 mm (0.444 in) steel ball into wood to half the ball's diameter. Huh.
