Portraits of Little Girls and Boys with Their Pink and Blue Things
South Korean photographer JeongMee Yoon has created an ongoing portrait series entitled, The Pink & Blue Project. The images feature children, generally aged 3-7, who are obsessed with the standard colors prescribed to their genders, pink for girls and blue for boys.
She says, “This project explores the trends in cultural preferences and the differences in the tastes of children (and their parents) from diverse cultures, ethnic groups as well as gender socialization and identity.”
Though the children and their backgrounds are rather diverse, the images end up looking more-or-less the same. But JeongMee’s commentary and reflection are worth the price of the click alone, so head over to The Pink and Blue Project and check it out!
