Sandwich Cake: Awesome or Disgusting?

Cake purists out there may not approve, but I think this savory, Scandinavian-style sandwich cake called a smörgåstårta looks incredible. Layers of bread separate creamy fillings, and a frosting made of sour cream and cream cheese tops it off.  

The sandwich cake is filled with smoked herring mousse, cucumbers, smoked salmon, mustard sauce and lettuce.

This unique cake and all of its savory adornments looks absolutely delicious. One of these days, when I’m feeling extra ambitious, I’ll have to attempt to make this culinary masterpiece.
