How to: Make Guinness Barbecue Sauce
With record temperatures in most of the U.S. in March, we’re well into grilling season. Which means it’s time to move beyond the “we’re just thankful that we can fire it up again” stage to start trying new things for the season.
Enter: Guinness barbecue sauce. It’s got many of the standard ingredients: vinegar, molasses, tomato paste, aromatics like garlic and onions, but gets a tasty-sounding complexity from Guinness Draught. As a dry stout, it has a “a sweet caramel flavour with a hint of coffee,” that would bring an earthy bitterness to the sweet/spicy/acidic flavors of a tomato-based barbecue sauce. “his BBQ sauce has the wonderful flavour of Guinness and goes perfect on ribs, chicken, pork chops and more!”
