Skeletons that Walk in the Wind: Strandbeests by Theo Jansen
These “prehistoric beasts” are one of the coolest things we’ve seen. Craftsmanship, creativity, and passion, all come together in this epic, interactive work of art.
Built by Dutch physicist Theo Jansen, these self-propelled beach animals move at the will of the ocean breeze. It’s hard to believe that such colossal structures can be moved by something so gentle. Strandbeests are currently touring the beaches in Holland and we’re quite jealous of all the people that get to see these animals in in their environment.
