How to: Make a “Retro Mad Scientist” Lightbox with Dimmer

This self-described “Mad Scientist” lamp has got me all sorts of excited. With four tube amp bulbs attached to a pine box with a retro-looking dimmer, it seems like a good, masculine addition that’d complement quite a few different decor styles. And the whole thing costs under $20 in parts.   

The look is clean and adds a warm glow to any room with a simultaneously futuristic and nostalgic feel. It reminds of the sort of future people in the early 50’s imagined we’d already be living in by now. Plus the wiring is pretty simple.
